ELEVENTH IN LINE

About This Blog
A blog about my life, universe, etc. At any given time you might find something endlessly interesting or just me ruminating on something else, which no one (not even myself) finds interesting. That's the way blogs go, I suppose. Anyway, I was eleventh in line, and you weren't. Hah!

About My Family
My mom is a

My sisters are, in order of age, a photographer, an artist, and a person too young to have her own website. My brothers are, in order of age, living up north, and again, a person too young to have a website. At some point soon I'll be collecting links for my aunts, uncle, and cousins. ^_^

I have the following observations to make:

The Enneagram test and I don't get along. Usually I test in the "5 and 1 are exactly equal, with 3 and 4 immediately behind and also tied with one another" range. Today I got a 4 with a 5 wing. Originality is important to me. Uh...

Caroline has seriously weird taste in quiz sites. But I'm not a racist, yay.

It should never be allowed to rain in Orange County. We can afford to bring in the water by truck, people, let's get a head start on that weather control technology already. I hope I can work tomorrow, because having an eight hour shift called off on account of RAIN is seriously pathetic (and it might cost me CR-25 status).

I love having a car, and I love having money, and I'm going to do EVERYTHING in my power to ensure that I can keep both in the future. My gosh, I'm THIS close to just getting in the car, dashing over to In & Out, and getting a #2 JUST BECAUSE I CAN...

Caroline seems to think that saying "oh, and we went to Barbados" is an acceptable form of blog updating behavior! Caroline! LOOK AT THE CAR SAGA, WOMAN! That's drama... we want to hear about the strip searches of little old ladies at the airport, and the TRAUMA of trying to cope with a LEVEL 3 SNOWSTORM (you aren't the only one I know in Ohio, and I still get the Lantern emailed daily!)

Ahem. My car is in the shop now. They said the starter is "stuck," and that's doubly annoying because it's brand new! Today the #50 didn't come for almost three hours -- I got off of work at 10:30, was at the bus stop at 10:40, and it showed up at 12:48. It's supposed to come roughly every 40 minutes. I was actually in tears... I'm never going to get enough sleep again. I want my car back. Meanwhile, I'm adding a towel, shampoo, and conditioner to my emergency kit -- there are showers at DL in the changing rooms, and if I'm going to be stuck at the Resort overnight in the future, I'm going to do it in style. I'm making an earthquake kit for extra credit in geology, and the 72 hour food portion is going to be a feast fit for an empress, since I fully expect to be chowing down on it on a regular basis.

Good news for the day: I've already worked 32.75 actual paid hours this week (that takes out lunches AND the 2.45 hours I lost when I was late...) and I have 8 hours scheduled for tomorrow. And, on the 25th, I can go buy a monthly bus pass for $16.50 (normally they cost like $43). Whee...

Here's the Car Saga...

(3:13pm Monday)
The last twelve hours have been an absolute unqualified *nightmare*. Let me just say up front that I'm already usually not in the best of spirits coming off of a 2:30am closing shift (that is, a shift where we have to close down all the registers, do stock -- in this case locate, transport, fold, and stack several thousand strollers -- and leave the park at 2:30am). And I'm usually not in the best of spirits when my car won't start and I have to take the bus. And I'm really not in the best of spirits when it turns out that the buses have a three-hour delay that just started, and that I have to kill those three hours by watching TV in a breakroom while the entire resort is deserted (except for security and custodial types). When all of those things happen all at once, suffice it to say that my spirits are so far from best, I can't come up with a good word to describe the distance. I've also only gotten 3 hours of sleep since yesterday.

The only good news is that we didn't have to pay a towing fee, because the tow truck guy came to the DL Cast Member parking lot and banged on my solinoid (sp?) and lo, and behold, that evil little device (which is faulty in all the Ford Tauruses -- or is it Tauri -- sold from like 1988 to 1997) was the culprit. AS SOON AS he tapped on it (with a "jack handle"?) the engine started just fine. I spent two hours on OCTA buses, I walked for a mile from the bus stop to home, I had to go to a doctor's appointment with NO sleep (my brother and sister woke up just as I got home -- they were relatively quiet though, because I threatened them with bodily harm) and it's all the fault of the FOUR different automotive places that have NOT fixed that solinoid thingy (they replaced it once, but I think it was with another faulty one because these difficulties are going on year 13...). I convinced my dad that I don't want to give the car up for several days only to get it back with a muttered "there's nothing wrong, please give us $100 for not helping you at all" result. He's gone to buy a 18 inch steel rod so that if it happens again, *I* can tap on the solinoid thingy. And, later this week, I'm going to buy a monthly pass for the bus -- if I use it sixteen or more times per month, it'll pay for itself (it costs $16.50 because I'm a DL CM, it takes roughly $2.50 in gas to get from home to DL now, AND you get a commuter alternative bonus each day you take the bus or a
bicycle or whatever to work, instead of driving ^_^).

The extent of my disorientation can be expressed in the facts that I never did brush my hair (it's up in the braid I created before falling into bed), that I forgot to change my shirt and so I'm wearing the one I slept in (though only for 3 hours), and that I found The People's Court *terribly* intriguing during my long wait for the tow truck guy.

(Wednesday, 2:24am)
Unfortuantely, I ended out sleeping 14 hours straight after I went to bed (at a perfectly respectable 11:30pm) and was supposed to start work at 11:45am the next morning. So now I have icky attendance points on my record, and I *really need a shower*. They let me come in, though, even though I was almost three hours late by the time I got there, which means I didn't lose a whole day. Bad part? When I got out to Katella lot, at midnight (I had a rehearsal, too), the car wouldn't start again! I tried twisting a hangar into a shape that would reach in there and bang on the right part of the engine, but that didn't work (I also didn't have enough light to do it). Thankfully, me fussing with the hood open drew the
attention of T&P (Transportation and Parking), and a guy came over and helped me out. It looks like the "let's bang on the starter/solinoid" method only works if one person is banging and the other one is trying to start the car. Maybe it's time to start carpooling... *cough*. On my next day off, I'm going to take it in to have it looked at. There are scuff marks on the starter now, so it should be obvious as to what the problem area is, and the lengths to which I must go to fix it...

Yeeeek, I haven't updated in like, FOREVER.

Okay, new stuff since last month:

-- Flashback is progressing. I have to try and sell *10* tickets between now and March 6th. I could cry. I haven't sold any yet. Sigh. In other news, I'm doing a country version of the Hustle for the Shania Twain song, and tonight we're learning the stuff for "She Blinded Me With Science." I'm going to be a cool nerd -- leather and lab coats, people.

-- School: I got straight A's last semester! Go me! Yes, even in Biology and Geology. That is so cool. Now I just have to do well in this other geology class, get a waiver or three approved, and GRADUATION will be right around the corner.

-- My car: is in trouble. Two nights ago (Sunday, 2:30am) I came out after work and tried to start it -- and it wouldn't. The Transportation and Parking guys tried to fix it, but it didn't work. I wrote this huge long thing for my email buddies, let me find it and post it...

-- TV: It occurs to me that I'm so busy now, that I've lost interest in almost all the TV shows I like. I'm down to just keeping up with Stargate, West Wing, and Angel. Buffy and Enterprise also get attention when I remember them. I hate that WW and Angel compete with each other on Wednesday (tonight Angel is being preempted by something stupid, so that's not a problem). Nothing like having a life to distract you from cable and EverQuest (it's been 9 months since I quit, cold turkey...)

-- I got Niffled on FictionAlley. People love the Elf liberation tract. I've created a whole thing at my site, called the Witches' Initiative for Justice. I'll hunt down the URL later.

-- Caroline needs to update her blog. She's almost as bad as me!

Because only so many people can be eleventh in line.
